A medical trip works best when hospital review comes before travel. Confirm the department, records, appointment route, likely costs and follow-up plan before booking flights or accommodation.
Some people search for a “China medical tour.” Medical care should not be treated like a tour package: licensed clinicians decide whether an evaluation or treatment is appropriate.
Before booking travel
- Prepare a short case summary and a list of current medicines
- Ask the hospital which reports, imaging and pathology files it needs
- Confirm the correct department, campus and official intake route
- Request written appointment or review instructions
- Ask for a case-specific estimate and what it includes

Prepare more than one payment method and confirm deposits, refunds and receipts.

Ask whether the hospital provides interpretation and whether an English-speaking patient companion should be arranged.

During care in China
Keep appointments, routes, reports, prescriptions, payment records and questions organized. A companion may help with registration, wayfinding and non-clinical communication, but medical explanations and treatment decisions remain with the hospital team.
